Agreement to these terms
These terms are a contract between you and the individual developer who operates Cordia, based in Latvia and trading as Cordia ("Cordia", "we", "us"). By creating an account, accessing, or using Cordia, you agree to them, together with our Guidelines Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Cordia.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the mandatory law of the country where you live. Where these terms conflict with those rights, your rights win.
The service
Cordia is a realtime community platform. You can create servers and channels, send messages, chat one-to-one, make voice and video calls, share your screen, and receive notifications through the web app, the installable web app, and the desktop applications.
Cordia is currently free to use and is run by an individual, not a company. If we introduce paid features, we will publish the trader identity, address, and contact details that consumer law requires before you can buy anything, and these terms will be updated.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, or 13 where the law of your country allows a lower age for information society services. If you are under 18, you confirm that you can enter into a contract where you live.
You may not use Cordia if we have previously banned you, or if the law of your country prohibits you from using it.
Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date
- Keep your password and recovery code confidential — you are responsible for activity on your account
- Do not share your account or transfer it to someone else
- Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it
You can delete your account at any time from settings. Deleting your account ends this contract, subject to the retention periods in the Guidelines Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- post content that is illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights
- post child sexual abuse material, or content that sexualises minors — we report this to the authorities
- harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse other people
- share someone's private information without their consent, or intimate images of anyone without consent
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
- send spam, run scams, or distribute malware
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect data from Cordia, or attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls
- probe, scan, or test the security of the service without our written permission
- interfere with the service or place unreasonable load on it
We may remove content and restrict accounts that breach these rules. Section 8 explains how that works and how to challenge it.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post. To operate Cordia we need a licence to handle it: you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, and display your content solely to provide, secure, and improve the service. That licence ends when your content is deleted, except where we must keep it for backup or legal reasons.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to post your content, and that posting it does not break the law or anyone else's rights.
Communities and moderators
Communities on Cordia are run by their own owners and moderators, not by us. They set their own rules, choose who joins, and can remove content or members. Their rules sit on top of these terms, and they cannot override them.
If you create a community, you are responsible for how it is run and for the content in it.
Moderation and reporting
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts where we reasonably believe these terms or the law have been broken, or where needed to protect users. Community moderators can do the same inside their own community.
Where we restrict your content or account, we will tell you why and how to challenge the decision, unless doing so would be unlawful or would compromise an investigation. You can appeal through the contact details below, and we review appeals by hand.
Anyone can report content they believe is illegal. We assess reports, act where appropriate, and tell the reporter the outcome. We also act on orders from authorities where the law requires it.
As a small provider, some of the procedural obligations that apply to very large platforms under the Digital Services Act do not apply to us. We apply the principles anyway: clear rules, reasons for decisions, and a way to appeal.
Encryption
Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them, we cannot moderate them, and we cannot recover them for you if you lose your keys. If a conversation needs to be moderated or recoverable, do not use direct messages.
Server channels are not end-to-end encrypted. They are visible to members with access and to the community's moderators.
Payments and donations
Cordia is free. There is no paid plan, no subscription, and no card on file. Every feature described on this site is available to every account.
We accept optional one-off donations through a tip page linked by QR code. A donation buys nothing and unlocks nothing: it is a gift toward hosting costs, it does not create a contract for services, and it does not entitle you to any feature or support level.
Donations are processed by Buy Me a Coffee on their own site. Your card details go to them directly and never reach our servers. Refunds are at their discretion under their terms, not ours.
Because a donation is a gift rather than payment for a service, the statutory cancellation rights described below do not apply to it. Nothing is delivered in return, so there is nothing to withdraw from.
Your rights as a consumer
This section applies if you are a consumer in the EU or EEA. It summarises rights you have by law; it does not replace them.
Right of withdrawal
For distance contracts you normally have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason (Directive 2011/83/EU). This applies to anything you buy from us, which today means nothing: Cordia has no paid plan and takes no payment for access. Donations are gifts and are covered by Payments and donations.
Quality and conformity
We supply the service with reasonable skill and care and in conformity with these terms (Directive (EU) 2019/770). If the service is defective, you can ask us to bring it into conformity. If we cannot do that within a reasonable time or without significant inconvenience, you may be entitled to a price reduction or to end the contract.
What we cannot ask you to give up
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law. Terms that are unfair to consumers are not binding on them (Directive 93/13/EEC).
Third-party services
Cordia links to and integrates with services we do not control, such as notification providers and external websites. Their terms and privacy policies apply to them, and we are not responsible for what they do.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Cordia running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may change, add, or remove features. If we discontinue the service or make a change that materially affects you, we will give reasonable notice and, where technically possible, time to export your data.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Cordia at any time and delete your account.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, if your use is unlawful, or if your account poses a risk to other users or to the service. Except where the risk is urgent or the law prevents it, we will give you notice and a reason, and you can appeal. If we terminate your account without cause, we will give reasonable notice.
Disclaimers
Cordia is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
This does not apply to warranties or conformity guarantees that cannot be excluded under the law that protects you as a consumer.
Limitation of liability
We are liable without limitation for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of goodwill, or loss of data. Our total liability for direct loss is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 100.
If you are a consumer, this section does not limit your statutory rights, and we remain liable for damage to your property or your device caused by our software where the law says we are.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of Latvia. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live (Article 6 of Regulation (EC) 593/2008).
Disputes are heard by the courts of [CITY, COUNTRY]. If you are a consumer, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of the place where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Cordia changes. We will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect, and where the law requires it we will ask you to accept them explicitly.
If you do not agree to a material change, you can stop using Cordia and delete your account before it takes effect.
Contact and complaints
Questions about these terms, or an appeal against a moderation decision: admin@cordia.ext.io.
Cordia is run by an individual, so we do not publish a private postal address. If you need an address to serve a formal notice, email admin@cordia.ext.io and we will provide one.
If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you can use a certified alternative dispute resolution body where one is available for your type of dispute, or go to court. The European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025, so we do not link to it.
